Orland, CA – Glenn County Sheriff’s Office has located missing person, Christian Valdez-Perez, deceased at Black Butte Lake this morning, August 7, 2023. Christian Valdez-Perez, 22 years old of Hamilton City, was reported missing to Glenn County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday, August 5, 2023. Christian and his family were recreating at Black Butte Lake Saturday. Christian went off on his own on the shoreline to another cove and did not return to his family. His family reported him missing to the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies and Search and Rescue responded to the area near Grizzly Flats.
A search was conducted Saturday and Sunday in the surrounding area by land, water, and air by Glenn County Sheriff’s Office – Search and Rescue, Butte County Sheriff’s Office - Search and Rescue, and CHP air operations. Deputies and Search and Rescue recovered Christian Valdez-Perez at Black Butte Lake the morning of August 7, 2023. An autopsy will be conducted to confirm cause of death.
