Not all registered beekeepers request notification however, as an applicator, you are required to check for apiaries around the site prior to spraying a pesticide toxic to bees. This is only applicable to sites with blooming plants. This includes not only the planted crop but also any weeds in the field and adjacent fields, roadsides, or ditches. The website BeeWhereCalifornia includes “Bee Check”, a tool used to alert you - the applicator about bees in the vicinity of the application site. A Bee Check shall occur at least 48 hours before each application date. This system replaces the Tri-County Bee Notification System. If you have any questions, please call the office at 530-934-6501.
