The District's Public Education and Outreach Program educates the residents of Glenn County on how to:
- Drain and/eliminate mosquito breeding sources on and around their homes and ranches
- Defend themselves from being bit by mosquitoes by using repellents
- Dress in appropriate clothing to avoid mosquitoes when they are most active (Dusk and Dawn)
Annually, the Glenn County MVCD and The Valley-Wide Mosquito Abatement District participate in the Willows Lamb Derby Parade and the Glenn County Fair Parade in Orland, where we remind the residents to report dead birds for West Nile Virus testing, report neglected swimming pools, drain mosquito breeding sources, defend themselves from being bit by mosquitoes, and dress in appropriate clothing and to limit outdoor activities during Dusk and Dawn.
